When you are subscribed to a forum topic, event, or other content, it means you will get an email in the future when anyone else posts a further comment.

By default, starting a new forum topic or posting a comment subscribes you to that thread.

This is a helpful feature to keep up with threads, but is potentially a security risk if an abuser has access to your email.

You can change your subscription settings by loggin in, clicking on the 'My Account' link at the top left, then clicking on the 'Subscriptions' tab. To then edit your defualt subscription settings, click on 'Settings' to expand the fieldset, make your changes and click 'Save'.
